Travel to the U.S. with a Visa

Coming to Your Interview

IMPORTANT:  Failure to follow these instructions may prevent you from getting your visa.

  • Do not bring any luggage, back packs, or bags of any kind to the interview.  You will not be allowed to enter with them and there is no place to store them.
  • You will only be allowed to enter 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time.
  • Only applicants with interview appointments can enter – friends, family, lawyers, etc. will not be allowed in.
  • Allow several hours for the interview process.

Scheduling an interview does not guarantee your visa will be approved.  Applicants are encouraged not to make travel arrangements until they have their passport back with a valid visa.  You will be told at the end of the interview whether your visa has been approved or denied.

If approved, your passport with the visa will be returned, typically within 5 – 7 days, by MRW courier service and someone must pay for delivery when it arrives.  You will be given an envelope, but be prepared to provide an address where someone is present all day to receive the delivery.

NOTE: Some applications require additional administrative processing that may take weeks or months to complete.  If this applies to your case, you will be told at the time of your interview.  Again, do not make travel plans until you have your visa.
