Solidarity with Lorca

On behalf of the US Mission in Spain, I send our condolences to the families and friends of those killed in the deadly earthquake in southeastern Spain on May 11.
 
It is clear to me that the relief operation undertaken is well-organized, highly motivated, and already making a difference in people’s lives.  On the streets of Lorca, amid the wreckage, people are going about the business of cleaning up, restoring power, and helping each other.  The local residents are making great progress by working together and supporting one another.

Our thoughts and prayers are with those injured or displaced and with all the people of Spain during this difficult time.  My country stands ready to assist.
