Summer camp counselors in the U.S.

Camp counselors directly interact with groups of young Americans by supervising their activities in a camp during the summer season. They do not serve as staff members, and do not carry out house or administrative work. This program is especially aimed at motivated young people, with experience in leisure activities, working with children, sports, crafts, etc.

The program is open to foreign university students at least 18 years of age with a good level of English. They may work in the United States as camp counselors for up to 4 months, which can not be extended.

Participants must be placed before their arrival in the United States at a camp that is either accredited, a member of the American Camping Association, or affiliated with a prestigious non-profit organization.

Camp counselors receive pay commensurate with the one offered to his/her US colleagues. The organizations must provide them with information on their duties, responsibilities, and contractual obligations at the summer camp before their departure for the United States. It is recommended to refer to applicable US regulations at Camp counselors.
