NON-IMMIGRANT VISAS

Applying for visas to work in the U.S. (H, L, O, P and Q visas) once a Petition has been approved

All working visa (H, L, O, P and Q) applicants’ are required to:

  • Complete and sign the application form DS-156 online. Forms DS 156 not completed online will not be accepted. NOTE: The latest Adobe Acrobat version is needed to complete properly the form.

  • Complete and sign the supplemental nonimmigrant form DS-157.

Each accompanying family member is asked to file an individual application.

EACH APPLICANT MUST PAY A VISA APPLICATION FEE

Every visa applicant (regardless of age) is required to pay a visa application fee of the equivalent of 131 U.S. Dollars. You may pay in person at any Banco Santander Central Hispano (BSCH) location in Spain. Please request payment into the following account number:

Nationals of some countries will have to pay an additional visa fee based on reciprocal fees their governments charge Americans applying for similar visas. There is no reciprocal issuance fee for Spanish or Andorran citizens. Read more...

A passport valid for at least six months beyond the holder's period of stay in the United States with at least one blank page must be presented at the time of the visa interview- the six-month requirement does not apply to Spanish passports. Read more…

Applicants must provide a photo, 5cm x 5cm, taken in the last six months and meeting State Department regulations.

FURNISH THE ORIGINAL, PHOTOCOPY OR FACSIMILE COPY

Of the Notice of Action Form I-797A or B. The application cannot be processed without this form. Note: We do not accept the I-797C copy.

L VISA APPLICANTS

All L visa applicants are required to furnish a copy of the full petition and supporting documents that was filed with the Department of Homeland Security, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services.

BLANKET L-1 VISA APPLICANTS

Applicants are required to furnish the following additional documents when applying for the visa:

  • One original and two copies of the form I-129S. This indicates under which category (manager, executive or specialized knowledge professional) your visa is to be granted. You may also be required to produce evidence of your entitlement to a particular category, such as diplomas, certificates or other proof of your educational background; and

  • A letter from your company stating the position and the organization from which you are transferring, the new organization and position to which you are destined, a description of your actual duties and salary under both the new and the former positions, and the dates and locations of your previous stays in the United States in "L" status.

  • Blanket L-1 visa applicants are required to pay a $500.00 Fraud Prevention and Detection Fee. The fee is paid at the time of the visa interview.

ISSUANCE FEES

Nationals of certain countries are required to pay an issuance fee in order for an approved visa to be issued. No fee is charged for Spanish or Andorra passport holders; they are required, however, to pay an issuance fee for an L-2 visa.

What do I do next?

Applicants aged 14 to 79 are required to schedule an appointment for an interview. Applicants under the age of 14 and those 80 and over may be eligible to apply for a visa by mail.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Visa processing has changed since the terrorist attacks of September 11. 2001, which means that visa applications, in some instances, take time to process to conclusion. We recommend that individuals apply for visas well in advance of their proposed date of travel and not make final travel plans until the visa has been issued and they are in receipt of their passport and visa.
