NON-IMMIGRANT VISAS

Traveling without a visa

Ordinarily, foreign nationals entering the United States must have valid visas unless they qualify for travel under the Visa Waiver Program. However, there are some specific exceptions as described in the following paragraphs.

Canadian Citizens: Canadian citizens carrying valid passports do not require visas in order to visit or transit the United States.

Bermudan Nationals: Bermudan passport holders do not require visas for travel to the United States.

Mexican Nationals: Mexican nationals carrying valid Mexican passports and a United States B-1/B-2Visa or valid Border Crossing Cards do not need an additional visa to visit or transit the United States.

As of March 17, 2003, Landed Immigrants of Canada and British residents of Bermuda who are citizens of, and have valid passports from, Commonwealth countries or Ireland must have a visa to enter the United States.  They are not eligible for VWP travel.
